Court invalidates Galloway’s attempt to buy out of its affordable housing obligations (PDF)
In a decision released today, the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court invalidated a Regional Contribution Agreement (RCA) in which Galloway Township and K. Hovnanian attempted to pay Bridgeton $2.1 million dollars instead of building 61 low- and moderate-income units as part of the 3100-unit Smithville development.

Corzine, Doria called upon to fix problems highlighted in public advocate’s report on COAH (PDF)
Fair Share Housing Center (FSHC) called on Governor Corzine and DCA Commissioner Joseph Doria to respond to the New Jersey Public Advocate’s report on affordable housing in New Jersey by making good on the Administration’s promise to adopt an equitable affordable housing policy.

Lourt finds Meadowlands commission must comply with Mount Laurel (PDF)
In a decision issued today, an appellate court ordered the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) to comply with the Mount Laurel doctrine by creating affordable housing as part of a plan to bring 57,000 new jobs to the Meadowlands.

Court finds state’s new affordable housing rules unconstitutional (PDF)
In a sweeping 127-page ruling released today, the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court invalidated the state Council on Affordable Housing (COAH)’s new Third Round rules for determining how towns comply with their Mount Laurel affordable housing obligations.

Bancroft property will include affordable housing (PDF)
In a report released today, the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH), a state agency, rejected the Borough of Haddonfield’s proposed affordable housing plan. COAH found that Haddonfield was required to plan for 37 affordable units in a total 185-unit development on the Bancroft site. COAH also found that Haddonfield was required to identify other vacant and underutilized parcels that could be rezoned to allow the development of affordable housing.

No mention of affordable housing in governor’s state of state address (PDF)
Fair Share Housing Center (FSHC) today responded to Gov. McGreevey’s State of the State Address by declaring that Gov. McGreevey is misguided if he believes his proposed reforms address the root causes of our state’s social problems. FSHC contends the land use proposals are neither smart nor constitutional under the Mount Laurel doctrine.

COAH sued by NAACP branches for three-year delay in release of fair share numbers (PDF)
On June 19, 2002, the Southern Burlington and Camden County Branches of the NAACP and Fair Share Housing Center (FSHC) will file a lawsuit at the Appellate Division in Trenton that challenges three years of inaction by the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing (COAH).
